Laura Burch is a multimedia artist living and working in Jaffa, whose work has spanned the fields of graphic design, illustration, photography, and puppet-making. After receiving her degree from Indiana University in 1986, she spent two decades working as a graphic designer for a variety of corporations, publishing firms, and as a freelance artist in Chicago. Burch immigrated to Israel in 2000 and went on to found the “Burch and Daughters” boutique gallery in Tel Aviv, where she designs, produces and sells handmade children’s toys, accessories, and costumes. The gallery also serves as a studio in which she teaches seminars on needle felting, a technique in which raw wool is sculpted with a special barbed needle, transforming the wool into a solid 3D material that can be molded into intricate textures and details.
